Brief Introduction Of Coupling
2021-11-18 11:18:45

Coupling refers to a device that connects two axes or axes with rotating parts, rotates together in the process of transferring motion and power, and does not detach under normal conditions. Sometimes it is also used as a safety device to prevent the connected parts from bearing excessive loads and play the role of overload protection.

Coupling can be divided into rigid coupling and flexible coupling.

Rigid coupling does not have the ability of cushioning and compensating the relative displacement of two axes. It requires two axes to be aligned strictly. However, this kind of coupling has simple structure, low manufacturing cost, easy assembly and disassembly, easy maintenance, high alignment of two axes, large transfer torque and wide application. Commonly used are flange coupling, sleeve coupling and clamp coupling.

Flexible couplings can also be divided into flexible couplings without elastic elements and flexible couplings with elastic elements. The former only has the ability to compensate the relative displacement of the two axes, but can not buffer and reduce vibration. The common ones are slider couplings, gear couplings, universal couplings and chain couplings, etc. The latter one contains elastic elements, except for elastic elements. In addition to the ability to compensate the relative displacement of two axes, it also has the function of cushioning and vibration reduction. However, due to the limitation of the strength of elastic components, the transmitted torque is generally inferior to that of flexible coupling without elastic components. Common ones are elastic sleeve pin coupling, elastic pin coupling, plum-blossom coupling, tire coupling and snake-shaped bullet. Spring coupling and reed coupling, etc.
